Texas’ Short-Lived Racing Roller Coaster

Featuring a footprint of under 14,000 square feet, Kid Flash Cosmic Coaster was a first-of-its-kind family racing coaster. The compact attraction featured a height of 24.5 feet and a cumulative track length of 1,124 feet. Its twisting, single rail design presented opportunities for each track layout to dive over and under each other a dozen times during the ride cycle. Unfortunately, Kid Flash Cosmic Coaster was plagued with mechanical and design problems from the start. The attraction has been standing, but not operating, since July of 2024. The ride is expected to be removed in the near future.

Replacing an Original, LED Lighting Package

The Kid Flash Cosmic Coaster resided in the former location of the Fender Bender bumper cars, expanding the park’s DC Universe area. Kid Flash Cosmic Coaster, the first family racing coaster in America, also featured the an Aurora LED lighting package from Skyline Attractions. The multitude of LED panels transformed the coaster’s track into an impressive display of customizable lighting patterns.

Both Kid Flash Cosmic Coaster trains held twelve riders each.

The coaster’s queue line featured informational signs about the DC Comics character.

2024

  • In July, Kid Flash Cosmic Coaster closes indefinitely after a number of substantial technical difficulties.

2023

  • On March 1, Fiesta Texas announces that their new family racing coaster will be named Kid Flash Cosmic Coaster, themed to the Kid Flash DC Comics character.

Kid Flash Cosmic Coaster’s ride area is shaping up as crews work on the finishing touches of the Aurora LED lighting panels and station structure. Surrounding work still taking place includes the queue line area, shade structures and an entrance portal.

Kid Flash Cosmic Coaster test runs are officially under way. Set to open in October, crews are actively working on constructing the coaster’s station, along with preparing the surrounding area for the ride’s entrance and queue line.

Since our last visit, installation of supports and track for Kid Flash Cosmic Coaster has been completed. Both trains have also been added to the track. Crews now work on installing the ride’s Aurora LED lighting system. Early work has also begun on the relocation of Bucking Broncos to Crackaxle Canyon.
